For the interior design of timelab, a series of modular elements were designed as an extra-large meccano set. The system was designed to be compatible with Thomas Lommee’s Openstructures system.
All tables, shelves & cart are constructed from 40x40mm square steel tubing, with holes drilled into them every 40mm.

The connector plates are lasercut stainless steel in different shapes.

In order to manufacture 400+ meter of perforated square tubing, an old EMCO cnc-mill was customised.

It features a clamp system that allows it to drill holes in long tubing, even though it only has a 200mm X-axis:

The beams were then nickel-plated.
The litlle EMCO proved a reliable tool, but it was very slow. Later batches were made on a tube laser, and again nickel-plated.
